Big Sky Paranormal Conference: An Experience I Won’t Forget

Big Sky Paranormal Conference
Nothing says spooky than your boss asking you if you’ve seen the small advert signs around town advertising the Big Sky Paranormal Conference just to have your friend a few minutes later text asking if you wanted to go. Of course I had to say 'yes' because we love all things spooky around here!
So with that, Killian and myself booked a hotel to stay in as well as the event tickets.
After staying up way too late the night before, then having to wake up at 5am to pack and get ready to leave, Killian and I hit the road. Even though the signs were scattered about our town the event was two hours away in a mining town called Butte. I hadn’t really visited much, but I knew it was known for its history. The two hours flew by as we chatted, ate snacks, and watched the sun rise on our journey.
Killian had done most of the planning so it was to my surprise when we pulled up to a large brick mansion. Not only did I love architecture but it was perfect for the event.

Having four floors, including a ballroom at the very top, each room was filled with vendors or an activity. Each hour you could go from room to room to see who was speaking. Killian and I had mapped out the rooms prior to make sure we saw everything we wanted to see.

After a quick opening ceremony we started the day with haunted objects where we learned about a haunted doll named Sissy.
From there, we went to a few panels consisting of witch talks, aliens, and listened to some podcasters and how they ran their shows.

By the time it was afternoon, everyone was gathered to do their own ghost hunt in the mansion. Both Killian and myself grabbed the equipment and made off, my first stop with Sissy to see if what was said was true about her. Our equipment seemed to be working like magic every time we asked a question. Up and down the stairs we climbed to see what the other floors would bring. At one point just outside a bathroom we seemed to run into a solider spirit who was younger according to our questions.

We didn’t stay long as we walked a few blocks down to the haunted theater. There we did used our equipment again finding ourselves chilled to the bone.

Once everyone had returned we were back to more events, listening to more podcasters, hypnotists, and ghost hunters.
But the night wasn’t over! We jumped onto a trolley to be whisked around town to all the haunted locations. Stopping at bars to get drinks to old brothels where men were murdered back in the day, Killian and I both encountered some weird sightings. These included mist and orbs magically appearing while asking our questions, me getting viciously sick while standing in a spot people had previously died, to talking with a dead girl through flashlights. The best part was the gentlemen leading the group who had witty banter and some amazing facts. This included Butte having the most historically marked places in the US with over 4400- now that’s a lot! Instead running for two hours we went for over four!

Considering the late night and early morning I was barley hanging on for dear life. Saying goodbye to everyone we finally found ourselves at the hotel. One where a little ghost girl would be found meandering the pool. So of course we had to get a room nearby. I placed the musical box I'd bought on the nightstand for her in case she wanted to play it. But considering it was 3 am and I'd been up for almost 24 hours I don’t think I would have heard it once my head hit the pillow.
Come morning we ate breakfast, walked around the town, then decided to head back. On the way we reminisced about the fun times we had and were so happy to have gone.
Would I go again, yes. Will I sleep more the night before… definitely! If you are ever in Butte, Montana in the month of October while the Big Sky Paranormal Conference is going I highly recommend!
