Who Do You Follow?

Over the years of my writing journey, I've looked far and wide for tips and tricks to help me succeed. In doing so I've stumbled on some creators who have not only helped me, but others in the writing community. If you're looking for some help on your next novel check out these creators/authors who can help you achieve your writing goals.

I've been watching Sarra Cannon for many years now. Sarra is one of the first indie authors on Amazon selling more than a million copies across the 30+ novels she has written. She chronicles the struggles she faces while writing her novels with in depth tutorials showing her writing process. Sarra's courses on planning and organizing are even more in depth. She has hundreds of videos to watch to help you get started on your journey.

Meredith isn't a published author, but she is one in the making. Her laid back videos are fun to watch as you see the daily ins and outs of becoming a writer while working full time. Even though more based on her own writing she finds some great writing programs she applies to that is handy for up and coming writers like herself.

Kate has been on YouTube for a very long time. Over the years she has created several different writing systems and challenges to help herself in her writing journey that others have also used. Her videos are long but are a cozy watch as she navigates her writing content to become fully independent.

I think Christy's page is great for young writers who are inspiring to become published. Out of school and on her journey to becoming published you see her write her books as well as query for an agent. Once again, these are cozy and focused on her life but also contain tips and tricks for writing fantasy.

Abbie is a self published author who studies the form of writing. Just like this blog, she has in depth 'how to' videos on improving your writing and creating the best story you can. I highly recommend watching her if you want to be more technical in your writing skills. She typically uploads on Wednesdays on a specific writing topic.

Why You Should Follow Other Author's Journeys

You are probably wondering why I would recommend watching other author's when you should be spending time on your own story? Here are some reasons why!

Great Tools

There are some people out there that think they are great writers who don't need help writing a novel. For some this is true, but for others this is not the case. There's a reason these people have been successful in their writing careers and that is because they have formed tools to help them get to the next level and become the best writers they can possibly be. Many of of the tips and tricks they use can be easily applied to your writing style and the best part, you got the information for free. So use the tools they've given you during your next writing session.

Community

Writing is lonely. It's something only you can do as no one else knows the world you are trying to create. But having a community of people going through the same things you are going through is so uplifting and encouraging. Community is important and you don't have to go through your writing journey alone.

In fact, you might find someone in your local area who would love to do writing sprints with you.

Inspiration

Then, the one topic I write about most on this page is inspiration. So much inspiration comes from watching others succeed. When I don't feel like writing I watch a video or two and that gets me motivated and inspired to continue on with my story. So when you need a little push, go watch a video!

Final Thoughts

I highly suggest watching a few of the authors above or go find someone who melds well with your lifestyle and writing journey. I promise you'll become a better writer because of it.

Have you watched any of the authors above? Who would you recommend? Tell me in the comments below and don't forget to subscribe.
