It’s All the Rage

It’s no secret reading is on a whole new level especially when it comes to audiobooks. Instead of getting to smell of nostalgia as you turn a page or the satisfaction of seeing your work in progress you get to hear the story through intense whispers or bouts of romance while you do other tasks.

Even though I love a good physical read there are times when I think 'I’m glad I was able to listen to it isn’t of actually sitting down to read it'. The experience is completely different which is why you should consider turning your novel into an audio format. If you’ve been thinking of doing it, here’s 3 reasons why you should.

Your Written Skills are Above the Average Reading Level

The reading level in America averages around the 8th grade. Just enough to tell the basics, but maybe not SAT level vocabulary. It might be a great idea to have your book turned into an audiobook if it contains higher level education vocab. This will allow the listener to stay involved with the story gaining a better concept of the plot compared to stumbling over words every few sentences.

Story is Filled with Emotion

If many of your characters are on a deeper level when it comes to their conversations and feelings it might be a good idea to bring it to the next level by emerging your reader through the tone of voice. Sometimes reading a conversation doesn’t give us everything, but having the extra grittiness shows the readers how in depth your characters are.

Complicated Scenes

Have you ever been reading a fight scene in a fantasy world only to have to reread it again because you have no idea what's going on? Audio can help navigate those tricky scenes allowing the reader to see word for word what you've described. When there's a lot going on in a short amount of time hearing it out loud is more digestible.

Final Thoughts

If you're thinking about whether or not you should have your story turned into an audiobook, you definitely should if it contains one of the above topics. Not only will it emerge your readers into the story more but you can actually reach a bigger audience.
