Want to Reach a Bigger Audience?

Whether it’s blog posts on writing, cooking, traveling, or life you can take those posts and create an eBook to sell to the masses.

All this with hopes of getting your writing out there for more people to see as well as make passive income on work you’ve already done.

So, if you're thinking of taking your posts and creating an eBook here are 5 steps you should take.

Publishing

Self-publish. In this day and age, you can do almost anything by watching a YouTube video. This not only saves time, but money! You’ve already self-published your posts online which is why you’ll be able to self-publish on sites such as Amazon Kindle.

Flow

Before you go straight into publishing, the first thing you will need to do is make your posts flow. Since you are wanting to make passive income, you’ll need to pick between 15-30 posts which should convert to a 50-150 page eBook. There are two ways to make this flow.

The obvious and most common is dividing your posts into sections. Examples include editing, formatting, self publishing tips, how to’s, etc. Within each section you can include 3-5 posts related to the topic.

The other option is to have each post flow naturally one into the next. Say a post on self-publishing mentions websites you can publish on. The next post might be 'how to publish' on one of those sites.

Each option has its pros and cons, but I would recommend the first option. It makes it easier to read for a larger audience than the other option.

Editing

Once you’ve picked your selection of posts and have them in the order you like, now comes the part of editing.

But aren’t they already edited?

Why I sure would hope so, but this isn’t the standard making sure words are spelt correctly kind of editing. To avoid plagiarism of your own work, as well as making sure the post works for a bigger group of people, you will need to edit your posts to be more broad. This includes taking out personal mentions, removing photos, making statements more general, or expanding the post with updated information.

Depending on the post, this could take some time, but since you already have the foundation down you shouldn’t need to change too much.

Hiring

If you're already a pro at this, or have the tools to format your posts into eBook format, then great! If not, I highly suggest hiring someone off of Fiverr who can easily take all your posts and format them for you. This would include ensuring all posts are formatted the same way as well as making sure the formatting translates correctly to the publishing site. You don’t want to upload your work to find out something went terribly wrong in the process of converting to an eBook. Depending on who you hire, they can get this done in only a few days.

Advertise

Finally, before you upload your book, make sure you include QR codes or links to your website to gain more subscribers. Mention you have more helpful tips and posts for them to check out to entice people to go to the site. Overall you should gain a larger following and get your writing out there more!

Final Thoughts

Taking the work you’ve already done and putting it all into an eBook for a larger following is a fun and easy project. It’s also a great marketing tactic! Here's a step by step guide on how to publish your book once you have it eBook format.
