The Cover Reveal is Finally Here!
It's been a long time coming, but Princess Gabriella and the Never-Ending Kiss will be launching in just a matter of weeks!
As many of you know, the illustrations were one of my favorite parts in the process of creating this book. If you are just joining the blog, you can read some of my other posts detailing the process of finding an illustrator below.
Originally, when I crafted the pages(literally), I used colored construction paper and some handy glue sticks to design my images. At the time, they were great; standing out against my peers' work, but fast forward 12 years, and now they look as if a kindergartener pasted them together.
Knowing my skill levels and the little time available to devote to the pages I decided to hire an illustrator. Let me say, the images have come along way since 12 years ago! Including the front and back cover!
Before we get to the cover reveal though, I want to give a quick shoutout to my illustrator! Lady Bruniere has brought Princess Gabriella and the Never-Ending Kiss to a whole new level and I couldn't be happier.
A Little About Lady Bruniere:
Lady Bruniere is an experienced Brazilian children's illustrator based in Ireland. She's a postgraduate in Arts in Digital Media Design and Master in Business Management.
She started working with graphic design 5 years ago, for a school as a volunteer and liked the area so much she decided to make it her profession. Her specialty is pattern design and illustration. You can check out more of her work here. You might even see some of Princess Gabriella and the Never-Ending Kiss on there!
I hope to work with her again sometime here in the future.
Drumroll Please...
The time has finally come where you get to see the cover of Princess Gabriella and the Never-Ending Kiss!
The Front Cover
Ta da!
I think we've all heard the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover." When it comes to the book industry though, this doesn't apply. Covers are what catches a readers eye and are the first impression of what they will find inside.
For the front cover, I had a few ideas in mind. The first being similar to the original story I created 12 years ago. The original included silly stickers spelling out the title on a pink background with a few cute fairytale images. After seeing a mock up, I knew that was not the right choice for the new and improved Princess Gabriella and the Never-Ending Kiss.
Some quick deliberation, Lady Bruniere and I felt it was best to try and capture the essence of the story while, at the same time, not give too much of the story away. I think we hit the nail on the head, with the end results, as the front cover depicts the princess going on a journey. Let me know in the comments below what you like about the front cover!
The Back Cover
The back cover was not only a collaboration between Lady Bruniere and myself, but Jessie Cunniffe, a professional writer with a passion for encapsulating creative projects. Jessie helped write the book blurb along with my author bio for my Amazon Author Central Profile.
The back cover was much easier to design. Sticking to the forest theme, I wanted the scenery to wrap around the description Jessie and I worked so hard to create. I insisted we add in the adorable frog to show, it is in fact, a Frog Prince retelling. Overall, I love how cohesive the two covers are together, but still stand out on their own.
If you enjoyed getting a first look at the covers for Princess Gabriella and the Never-Ending Kiss, please let me know in the comments below! I am excited for everyone to see the story, in all its glory, here in the next few weeks. Until then...
**Updated Oct 4, 2021** The story is now available on Amazon for only $9.99 in eBook format. You can get the hardcover at Blurb.com.
