Celebrating One Year on the Blog: Recapping My Top Favorites

Updated: Nov 15, 2021

We Did It!

Askfengkdfvndfv... that's my mind right now because it's completely blown! How has it been a year already since launching Kali Kuzma Author and Storyteller?

Unlike most blogs, I didn't start with an introduction post or wait until I had 10 to 15 blogs ready before launching like most other bloggers suggest. Instead, I jumped right in with the self-publishing content. This was all done on purpose.

Even though I post weekly blogs(subscribe if you haven't already!), the site is also my main author page where readers who follow my writing can get updates on my latest projects. This all began with the launch of my first children's book Princess Gabriella and the Never-Ending Kiss. From there, it's become so much more!

I've found the weekly posts to be another form of creativity which I've come to love so much. It lets me express myself through my writing while also teaching others about the writing process. It's been a great joy and I can't wait to see what else I come up with next!

With that I decided it would be fun to recap the last year and go over the top posts and some of my favorites from the blog.

Number of Posts

Including this one, 56 posts for the year with an average of a 5 minute read. That's a lot of writing!

Most Read Post

With a SEO filled title, I'm not surprised this post has generated the most views since I launched it back in March. It's filled with great tips along with reviewing ways to chart on Amazon based on the 17000 Days Blueprint.

Longest Post

-Random Word Generator Short Story

When I first came up with the idea to write short stories, based on a random generator, I thought I'd be able to keep them pretty short...10 minutes. Well, most of the time that doesn't happen lol. This post is 18 minutes long, but is so worth the read!

Shortest Post

In this 1 minute long post, I announced The Dirty Thirty Sale celebrating my 30th birthday with a free illustration with purchase of Princess Gabriella and the Never-Ending Kiss for the month of October 2021.

Best Picture

For most of the blogs I use stock photos as the covers. This one is my favorite and represents Kali Kuzma Author and Storyteller well since I usually do most of my writing in bed.

Best Comment

"I like the suspense! Seems more like one of those Facebook generated blurbs to pull you into buying the whole book. Maybe part of the blog should be short stories continued! 🤔 Definitely like what you came up from our picks on the poll but now I wish I had picked a higher word count. I want to know what happened."

-Miriah Anderson, Stranded

This comment came from my most recent Random Generator Short Story titled Stranded. It was based on the subscriber's choice and I'm glad everyone seemed to like how it turned out.

Best Moment

Getting the first subscriber.

When I launched my request for supporters to join my TEAM BOOK project, I was so excited to see the subscriber's come flying in. They were the first to join besides my parents of course lol

Favorite Blog Series

"Random Generator Short Story Challenge"

This probably doesn't come as a surprise since I mention it in almost every post, but I love my Random Generator Short Story Challenges! I have to think outside the box and because of that have written several stories on different topics I would have never written before including abuse, police brutality, love and infidelity, stalkers, loss, and much more!

Favorite Random Generator Story

I have so many good short stories I've written over the last year, but this one sticks out the most. I don't know if it's the show not tell descriptions, the complex characters, or because it's my very first short story on the blog, but whatever it is, I always go back to it.

Favorite Book Review

-By Charlotte McConaghy

I'm so happy I started the book reviews on the blog. If it wasn't for that I never would've found my new favorite book of all time! Not only does it include complex characters, a great back story, and a mystery, but it also brings back several memories from my internship.

Favorite Self-Publishing Post

I love this post because I was one of the first bloggers to write about their experience launching on a new platform on Amazon with my short story Team Lightning Versus the Virus. It was amazing to see others curious about whether they to should launch their story on Kindle Vella too.

Favorite Guest Post

I love having guests who write about their self-publishing journey. Britta is near and dear to my heart since she is a close friend, and I was so happy to have her be the first guest.

Favorite Post Title

I remember back in the day when Lady Gaga and Lorde threw a bunch of random words together and created some of the most popular pop songs to date. I never thought I would be able to do that until I wrote about my trip to Ireland. Somehow the most random situations turned into one intriguing title post.

Favorite Sentence

"The devilish shrill filled the air piercing through the calm silence."

I remember when I wrote this sentence I got goosebumps not only because it was a scary story, but because I knew my writing style was improving immensely. I often think about this sentence as a reference when I write.

Favorite Characters

Sebastian and Amelia

Even with My Cup of Tea being a short story these characters really come to life. You get a good sense of who they are as a person which makes the story even better!

Favorite Pinterest Pin

This was a hard choice, but I think the above Pinterest Pin representing my post "How to Use Canva to Promote Your Blog on Pinterest", looks professional and would generate the most clicks based on the simple design. How ironic since it's a pin about promoting on Pinterest!

Most Fun Blog To Write

I couldn't wait to write this one! After decorating my house and launching my children's story, Princess Gabriella and the Never-Ending Kiss, I was stoked to show everyone how the party turned out. Not only was the party fun, but so was writing the post!

Hardest Post to Write

I usually don't have a hard time writing blog posts especially when I experienced things step by step myself. For some reason though, I had a hard time connecting my ideas to formulate a decent post. In the end, I started from scratch and wrote exactly what I was hoping for.

Most Creative Post

This post is slightly different than anything else on the blog and made me sit down and think about unique ideas other bloggers may not have written about before. If you need a idea for a gift this still relates in 2021.

Favorite Newsletter

"Big Announcements"

-June Post

This is one of my favorite newsletter updates, and I got to tell followers about two exciting announcements including being approved to have my story read on Tales By the Fireside Podcast and the launch of Team Lighting Versus The Virus on Kindle Vella. The newsletter resulted in tons of support and excitement.

Honorable Mentions

These are some that didn't make it into the categories above, but should be mentioned!

A Prayer in the Forest is another Random Generator Short Story Challenge which I took to the next level with another challenge within a challenge. It has a great twist ending I absolutely love!

The Vision Board post is full of goal motivating tips to help any writer succeed. I also adore my 2021 vision board I created and will most likely use it next year as well. Go check it out if you need to be motivated.

Lastly, is the Pinteret pin I created for my post Growing Up Haunted. It reminds me so much of a movie poster and I love it!.

Final Thoughts

Like I said before I can't believe a whole year has past! I'm so proud of what I've accomplished when it comes to writing and I can't wait to see what the next year brings.

If you haven't subscribed, please do! I write weekly posts and send out monthly newsletters letting you know all the fun projects I'm currently working on.

In the comments below, tell me which post was your favorite in the past year along with your favorite series found on Kali Kuzma Author and Storyteller.
